Advanced Class Discussion: Dhan

The assassin class of Rohan Online, Dhans have what it takes to kill with both style and stealth.

Standard Playing Style
Dhans are close combat characters, specializing in skills that deal damage quickly to take down enemies before they have a chance to respond. They also have skills that enhance specific attack skills, such as the following:
Psychic Phantom: An attack that deals an additional 80% damage with your regular attack.
Phantom Crow: Psychic Phantom has 20% chance to deal critical damage.
If you increase Phantom Crow to level 5, all of your Psychic Phantom attacks will have 100% chance to deal critical damage.
Of course, they have the traditional Hide skill which makes them invisible towards monsters and players. Just like the scenario above, the Dhan’s “Mortal Rising” skill gives attacks done in “Hide” mode an additional chance to deal a critical hit.

Skills
Besides the buffs that increase the Dhan’s AGILITY (Avoid), and DEXTERITY (Quickness), Dhans have other skills that are based on these stats that make investing in them more worth it. Take the following skill, for example:
Deadly Blow: Upon making a successful Critical Attack, 200% of your Agility is added to your attack.
They also have buffs that increase their movement speed (Sprint), block rate (Parry), and critical hit rate (Boost).
It would be up to your personal preference which skills you would concentrate on, but keep in mind that you can get all of those skills due to the limited number of skill points that you will get. Spend them wisely, keeping in mind your preferred style.

Level 50: Predator and Avenger
The Dhan further specializes in his killing technique into the Predator and Avenger classes. In a nutshell, these are what the two classes are good at:
Predator: Party support (traps that deal damage, heal, or reduce defense, and “Black Mantle”, that makes everyone in the Predator’s party hidden), fighting directly against warriors by exchanging their melee attack with their ranged attack (Transformation)
Avenger: Quick, strong attacks (with Double Psychic Phantom and Duplication), killing tankers quickly by exchanging their Hitpoints and Mana points (Mind Exchange), self-destruct (Suicide), traps that focus on killing an opponent (immobilize, drain stats)
Stats
Avengers should focus on AGILITY, since they are best in dealing damage. They have no way to reduce a target’s defense, so critical hits (that ignore defense) are best for Avengers. Remember that the Assassin’s Deadly Blow skill makes their critical hits stronger. In addition, AGILITY boosts evasion, making you less likely to be hit.
Predators, on the other hand, have fewer direct-damage skills (Demolition) compared to the Avenger, but have more versatile traps. They have a trap that reduces defense (Ruin Trap), allowing them to take down even the toughest tankers. Because of this, popular opinion stats that STRENGTH is the best option for a Predator to take advantage of this.
Going with the above, Avengers would be best suited in the following situations:
- 1 versus 1 duels
- Assassinating key targets in Township Battle
- Solo play
- Fighting against enemies with high HP but low mana (example: VITALITY-build Dekans or Humans)
- Fighting against enemies with high defense (again, because critical hits bypass defense)
Predators would be best in the following, though:
- Party duels
- Supporting a party through traps in Township Battle
- Setting up party ambushes
- Fighting against enemies with strong physical attack but weak ranged attack (example: STRENGTH-build Dekans, Humans, or Dhans)
Naturally, both Dhans are effective against characters with low hitpoints and physical defense, such as Dark Elves, Elves, and Half Elves… provided that they are not detected before they reach their target.

The STRENGTH versus AGILITY Debate
A lot of players have been debating about which stat a Dhan should focus in. Although this still has not been settled to this date, and may never be truly settled due to new strategies (equipment, etc) and skill builds being created, we will take the best parts of all arguments and present them to you:
STRENGTH Dhan (3 STRENGTH, 1 VIT every level): These Dhans have the easiest time levelling and can go solo, taking out monsters within a few hits. Due to the scarcity of items and skills that increase critical chance at low level, these Dhans will not have to worry about having to wait for a critical hit just to kill someone. They appreciate having constant damage with each attack.
However, focusing on STRENGTH would mean that they would have little to no evasion, and in Player versus Player, many have found that their STRENGTH attacks are too weak to pierce the defenses of tanker characters, thus preventing STRENGTH Dhans from being effective Avengers. Focusing on STRENGTH would likely force you to become a Predator because of their Ruin Trap.
AGILITY Dhan (3 AGILITY, 1 VIT every level): These Dhans will have a hard time levelling without equipment that boost their critical rate because they would have to wait for a critical hit before they can deal damage.
At low levels, their attacks will not be able to deal much damage (even critical hits) without raising the Deadly Blow skill, which is accessible at level 11 at the soonest. Even then, they would also have to raise their Boost skill to increase the rate of their critical hits. A STRENGTH Dhan would have been able to spend those skill points in Psychic Phantom and other skills, thus making the AGILITY Dhan reach a competitive point later in the game.
AGILITY Dhans can be either Predator or Avenger, but it is recommended that they become an Avenger to take advantage of the stronger attack skills (the Duplication skill is an attack that gives a chance of two consecutive 100% critical hits).
Many players have begun to shift from STRENGTH to AGILITY during the later levels (60-70+) because of this, although this does not mean that alternative strategies are any less effective. Party build and equipment stats will also affect the power of your build.

You just might find out the secret to the art of assassination. Try and make your own builds! Click on the image to enlarge.
